About Me

Hello there! My name is Maurine Hainsworth. I’m 30, married to my love, Nate, and currently living in Denver, Colorado, where Nate just started residency. I’m actually a copywriter for Food52 full-time, and this blog is where I share my passions of baking, French, photography, design, and more. I’m also a lover of simplicity, linguistics, cats, and Scandinavia. Stick around for some delicious recipes and glimpses into my life and style!

I hope you enjoy your time here, and thanks so much for reading!

FAQ

I’ve never heard the name ‘Dashney’ before. Where is it from?

Dashney is actually my middle name! I have quite a few ancestors with it as a last name. ‘Dashney’ is an English rendering of the French ‘Dagenais,’ which means ‘from Agenais’ (Agenais being a former region in France.)

I love the layout of your blog! How did you design it?

When I moved my blog from Blogspot to WordPress, I purchased the Rosemary theme from Solo Pine.

I love these photos of you and Nate. Who took ’em?

This photo is from my engagement shoot with Eden Strader. She’s so so good.

What camera equipment do you use?

I’m a Nikon gal, and I just upgraded to the Nikon D750. I’m currently using the Sigma 35mm Art lens (purchased from Eden, actually!).

What photo editing software do you use?

I’ve got Lightroom 6 and Photoshop CS6. I tend to stay in Lightroom unless I have to do something really drastic with my photos. I also have the VSCO FILM 01 presets and a couple of free VSCO presets, which I use on occasion.

Do you come up with all of your own recipes?

I do! I would rather not to duplicate anything that’s already out there or, worse, pass off someone else’s work as my own. My goal is to be the grandma who has her own recipes 🙂

How did you bake on TV?

I talk about that at length in this blog post.

How do you bake so often and still stay healthy?

Ha, I felt weird posting this question, but I get asked it semi-often. I’m a big believer in moderation in all things. No attaching guilt to specific foods. That means many of the things I bake make it to either a) a group of friends, or b) the freezer. Also I’m kind of a workout fiend 😉

Are you Mormon?

Yep, I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Note: This page contains a few Amazon Affiliate links, so if you happen to buy anything on Amazon after using these links, I get a small commission (which doesn’t cost you anything). Of course, I don’t link to anything that I wouldn’t already be linking to anyway. Just a heads up!
